Word of Mouth in the Pool Builder Business: Is it Enough?

Article
Close up on a person holding a sign that reads "Word Of Mouth" in front of their mouth. While word of mouth is important for a pool builder business, other marketing channels are necessary to generate leads.

If you’re a pool builder, you know that word of mouth is a powerful tool for attracting new clients. A satisfied customer is likely to tell their friends and family about your business, and those referrals can be a major source of new business. But is word of mouth enough to promote your pool builder business?

Is word of mouth enough to promote my pool builder business?

The short answer is no. Word of mouth is not enough on its own. While it’s certainly an important piece of the puzzle, there are other marketing channels that can help you reach a wider audience and generate more leads. Here are a few reasons why word of mouth alone may not be sufficient to promote your pool builder business:

1. You can’t control who is talking about your business.

With word of mouth, you have no control over who is sharing information about your business. This means that you may not be reaching the people who are most likely to be interested in your services.

For instance, you can tell your neighbor how great your business is, but if they only tell their friends who live in an apartment building that has no capacity for a pool, your message hits a dead end.

2. Word of mouth is slow to spread.

Even if you have a large network of satisfied customers, it can take time for their positive experiences to be shared with others. This can be especially problematic if you’re trying to grow your business quickly or if you’re in a competitive market.

3. Word of mouth is not always reliable.

While a positive referral from a friend or family member can be very influential, it’s not always a guarantee that the person being referred will follow through and become a customer. You usually need to connect with a consumer multiple times before they’ll become a lead.

What other marketing strategies can help my pool builder business grow?

So if word of mouth is not enough to promote your pool builder business, what should you do? Here are a few other marketing channels that can help you reach more people and generate more leads:

1. Paid advertising.

Paid advertising can be an effective way to reach a wider audience and generate more leads. This can include things like Google Ads, social media ads, and even traditional forms of advertising like print or radio ads.

2. Content marketing.

By creating and sharing valuable, informative content, you can attract potential customers to your website and establish yourself as an authority in your field. This can include things like blog posts, articles, and videos.

3. Email marketing.

If you have a list of email addresses from past customers or leads, you can use email marketing to stay in touch with them and promote your business. This can be a highly efficient way to nurture leads and convert them into paying customers.

4. Social media marketing.

Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn can be an effective way to connect with potential customers and share information about your business. By posting updates, engaging with followers, and running social media ads, you can reach a large audience and generate leads.

Start marketing your pool builder business today.

To truly grow your business, you’ll need to use a variety of marketing channels to reach a wider audience and generate more leads. This may require some investment of time and money, but it will be worth it in the long run as you build your pool customer base and achieve your business goals.
